MY ORAL PRESENTATION: Broadway.

1) INTRODUCTION.

Ok, let's get started. Good morning everybody. My name is Mariona and I'm a student at Casa Nostra School. Today I want to talk about a very popular place in the American city of New York: Broadway. First I will give a general explanation of Broadway and then I'll tell you its history and the famous musicals that you can see there. I hope that you like it very much and you learn a little bit more about this beautiful American culture.

2)GENERAL INFORMATION.

Broadway is called this way because it's a very wide street. You can see it in this map. It's situated in Manhattan. Broadway goes through Manhattan from south to north in a diagonal. Broadway goes from Union Square Park through Times Square and it finishes at the end of the island.
There you can see the best musical and theatres of over the world and a lot of hotels, shops, etc.

3)HISTORY

In the beginning Broadway was a road used by The American Natives. It was bigger than today and it was from New Amsterdam (the north of Manhattan) to the south of the island. In the 18th century it became the Broadway of today. The first name of Broadway was "the Boulevard" but at the end of 19th century it was renamed Broadway.

4)Famous musicals.

The best musicals that you can see now in Broadway are:

-Billy Elliot.

-Mary Poppins.

-Shrek the musical.

-The Phantom of the Opera.

-West side story.

The best musical for me is The Phantom of the Opera. The Phantom of the Opera is a French novel that talks about a young opera singer, Christine. Christine is in love with Raul but the Phantom loves her and so he wants to kill Raul. In the end Christine marries Raul because the Phantom lets Christine free. This is a trailer of The Phantom of the Opera in Broadway.

5) Conclusion.

To finish I'd like to say that I have never been to Broadway but I recommend you to visit it because it's a fantastic place to stay! I also recommend you that if you go there, you'll see some musicals because it's a fantastic experience.
